An Innovative Approach: Introducing Tub Soil.
Mr. Medhi didn’t stop at vermiculture. He noticed a growing interest in gardening, particularly in urban areas, where space for traditional farming was limited. People living in towns and cities wanted to grow flowers and vegetables but had no land to do so. With this insight, Mr. Medhi developed a unique product called “Tub Soil”—a specially formulated potting mix designed for container gardening. Tub Soil is made by mixing organic matter-rich soil, vermicompost, neem cake, bone meal, egg shells, azolla, poultry droppings, and Trichoderma bio-pesticides in a precise proportion. This nutrient-dense mixture provides all the essential elements required for plant growth, making it a self-sustaining medium for flowers and vegetables. With no need for additional fertilizers or nutrients, Tub Soil became a convenient and effective solution for urban gardeners. Mr. Medhi began marketing Tub Soil in 10-kg bags at a competitive price of Rs. 10 per kg. The demand for the product grew rapidly, especially in urban areas, where people found it difficult to grow plants due to space constraints. Soon, Tub Soil was being sold not just in Assam, but also in neighboring states like Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya.
